Fylm TV Archive:
Classic films. Live channels. A little nostalgia.
Remember turning on the TV without knowing what was playing, finding a movie halfway through, and getting hooked anyway?
We're bringing a little of that back.
Fylm TV Archive is a free, 24/7 TV network dedicated to classic cinema and independently shared films. We're bringing together public domain films from collections like the Internet Archive and the Library of Congress, alongside modern works released under Creative Commons licenses.
All you need to do is pick channel and see what's playing. No searching through hundreds of titles or spending 20 minutes deciding what to watch.
Each channel follows a shared, live schedule. Everyone tuning in sees the same film at the same moment, just like traditional cable TV. You might catch the opening credits, stumble into a scene halfway through, or discover an old favorite you haven't thought about in years.
Sometimes, the best films are the ones you weren't looking for.
Why we built Fylm TV Archive
At Fylm TV, we're building a streaming platform with independent filmmakers at the center. But as much as we're focused on the future of film, we don't want to forget the roots of filmmaking and the stories that inspired so many great filmmakers along the way.
Before today's technology, streaming platforms, and blockbuster budgets, there were filmmakers experimenting with what a camera could do. They took creative risks, developed techniques, and told stories that would influence generations of filmmakers who came after them.
Some of those films have outlived the studios that produced them. Others offer a glimpse into how filmmaking has evolved, from the earliest silent films to the stories that helped shape modern cinema.
And the independent filmmakers we're working with today? Some of them may be creating the classics that future generations will look back on for inspiration.
That's why we built Fylm TV Archive. We wanted to give these films another place to be seen, appreciated, and discovered. It's our small way of honoring the history of cinema while continuing to support the people shaping its future.
Supporting the preservation of film history
Much of what makes Fylm TV Archive possible comes from organizations and communities working to preserve and provide access to historic films.
One of those resources is the Internet Archive, a nonprofit digital library that helps preserve films, books, recordings, and other pieces of our shared history.
Preserving these collections takes ongoing work, and access to them matters. Without efforts like these, many older films could become increasingly difficult for future generations to discover and study.
If you enjoy exploring film history and want to help keep these resources available, we encourage you to consider supporting the Internet Archive.
You can learn more and make a donation at archive.org/donate.
Fylm TV Archive is not affiliated with the Internet Archive, but we appreciate the work it does to preserve and provide access to creative history.
How we choose what airs
Just because a film is old or available online doesn't automatically mean it's free to broadcast.
Before a title is scheduled, it goes through automated screening and human review to check its copyright status, licensing permissions, and content.
We also recognize that some older films contain harmful stereotypes and hateful caricatures. Those titles are excluded from our programming.
